Dear WRF users,The WRF modeling system codes have been updated to Version 3.5 onApril 18, 2013. The release includes all components of the system:WPS, WRF model (including ARW and HWRF), WRF-Chem,and WRFDA. Program RIP4 and UPP (v2.1) have also been updated.For WRF-ARW:- New options: Grenier-Bretherton-McCaa PBL; CAM 5.1 microphysics; NSSL 1-moment schemes;  Grell-Freitas cumulus; GRIMS shallow convection; Community Land Model V4. - Time-dependent Green House Gases for RRTM/CAM/RRTMG longwave options- 3D Price-Weller-Pinkel ocean model with simple initialization- NBSD/NUDAPT, NLCD2006, and 30 sec MODIS vegetation fraction data- WRF-hydro (see http://www.ral.ucar.edu/projects/wrf_hydro/)For WRF-DA:- Option to assimilate wind speed/direction (instead of u and v)- New instruments which can be assimilated: METOP Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI);    NPP Advanced Technology Sounder (ATMS); FY3 Microwave Temperature Sounder (MWTS) and    Microwave Humidity Sounder (MWHS)- Precipitation data assimilation in 4D-VAR- NOAA-19 AMSUA and MHS added- Improved capability to generate forecast sensitivity to observationsFor WRF-Chem:- Various updates and bug fixesFor HWRF:- Triple nest 27/9/3 capability matching the 2013 operational HWRF- New vortex tracking algorithms- Revised nest/parent interpolation routines- Ability to run with all microphysics schemes (preliminarily tested)- Interoperability added so Tiedke cumulus scheme can be used with HWRF- Capability to perform I/O in NetCDF or binary format in both big- and little-endian platformsFor detailed code changes, updates and to download the latest version of the code, please visithttp://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/user ... rg/wrf-nmm/users/We would like to thank many people for contributing to this release:Natelie Perlin, Junhong Lee, Jihyeon Jang, Songyou Hong, Ted Mansell, Carlie Coats,Jiming Jin, Y.
