RealClimate is a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists. We aim to provide a quick response to developing stories and provide the context sometimes missing in mainstream commentary. The discussion here is restricted to scientific topics and will not get involved in any political or economic implications of the science. All posts are signed by the author(s), except ‘group’ posts which are collective efforts from the whole team. This is a moderated forum.

Translations

We welcome translation efforts for all our substantive articles. Currently, we host translations of many articles that have been provided from the wider community and additionally we link to external translations. Availability is denoted by the appropriate language flag (note that national flags are merged if the languages are in common). If you would like to get involved translating either to the existing languages, or any new language, please let us know.

　    2009年11月17日，由气象科学家主办的发布气候方面评论的“真实气候”(RealClimate)网站，被一名IP地址在土耳其的黑客入侵，并上传了一张窃取自东英吉利大学气候研究小组的文件的照片。与这个文件有关的链接，则是一个IP地址位于俄罗斯的电脑用户贴到网上，题目是“奇迹正在发生”。真实气候网站一名工作人员随即发现网站被黑客入侵，删去了该文件，并将这一事件通知了东英吉利大学。两天之后（11月19日），这一文件再次通过一个俄罗斯境内服务器张贴上网，并复制了很多份在互联网上传播。同时还有一个匿名文章为黑客行为辩护，声称气候科学“非常重要，不应该被歪曲”。同时认为上传的文件是从众多通信、规则和文件中“随意抽取出来的”。11月28日，东英吉利大学发表声明，确认学校的服务器遭到黑客入侵，在全球气候研究中处于领先地位的气候研究小组的数据被盗，包括大约1000封邮件和3000份文件，其中有英国和美国科学家在过去十三年里通过邮件交流的记录。校方说，警方正在对窃取信息事件进行调查，并说不能确认上周以来在互联网上广为传播的相关文件是否是真的。据校方说，这些文件中总容量为160兆，其中邮件中的大部分都是一些平常的交流。但是媒体报道称，其中也有一些在讨论如何对付那些不相信“人类活动影响气候”的人。这些人一般被称为气候怀疑论者。除了对付气候怀疑论者。邮件中还有一些如何通过阻止意见不同的科学家的论文发表的内容。还有一些是讨论销毁一些不利的数据，以防止根据《信息流通法》，这些信息会让公众知道。

        气候学家Stefan  Rahmstorf认为，他的博客之所以成功是由于热门的话题和行家的贡献。他指出：“这些有助于培养尽可能将问题解释清楚的热情，当然，也需要有足够的耐心来处理蜂拥而来的评论的痛苦。”纽约戈达德空间中心的Gavin  Schmidt表示：“这一博客满足了人们对于不完全成熟但可接近的信息的渴望。在这方面，它比报纸上的文章更加深入，但却比科学著作更加容易理解。当然，杂志也填补了一些空缺，但它们不能像博客一样有效地起作用或者相互影响。”
