谁能帮忙解释一下“point filter”是什么意思

这两天在阅读文献《Comparison of hybrid receptor models to locate PCB sources in Chicago》时，里面多次出现一个短语“point filter”，并不是十分明白其意思，恳请哪位高人能够不吝赐教。附原句“In PSCF modeling procedures, the point filter eliminates areas that have few trajectory endpoints.”
“Similar to the other models, a point filter is applied as the final step of CWT to eliminate grid cells with few endpoints. ”
As described in the PSCF method section, the final step in PSCF modeling is to use point filters to eliminate areas with few trajectory endpoints resulting in many grid cells not being assigned a PSCF value.

其实就是把网格中轨迹节点数太少的情况处理一下，因为缺乏统计意义（样本量太少）将其PSCF值降低些。
