关于HDF5安装的一点问题请教

打算学模式，刚刚接触linux，安装hdf5时有一点问题不理解。我下载了hdf5的.tar.gz后
所有教程都说是configure make  check install
我的解压好就只有bin include lib share这四个文件夹
跟教程说的不一样
看教程是make install之后产生这四个文件夹

所以我直接把解压的复制到usr/local/hdf5下面就可以吗
那怎么更改编译呢？lib文件夹下面有个libhdf5.settings
是改这个吗？里面具体怎样配置呢
没找到相关的教程，不太懂
望指教谢谢
