PhD/Postdoc Position at Utrecht University (Netherlands)
Forwarded from CLIMLIST...
Dear colleague,
The Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research Utrecht (IMAU) is
looking for a motivated PhD student/postdoctoral researcher (m/f) to
study the future evolution of the Greenland ice sheet. The successful
candidate will study the rate and potential for reversibility of
Greenland deglaciation under various future climate scenarios. To that
end, the candidate will perform stand-alone runs with two models of the
Greenland ice sheet (IMAU-ICE and CISM) forced by climate data derived
from high-resolution atmosphere models (RACMO2 and CESM). If project
progress allows, fully coupled (CESM+CISM) runs will also be considered.
The main objective of this project is to assess the role of feedbacks on
the stability of the Greenland ice sheet, and to determine whether
climate tipping points can be identified that lead to the full
deglaciation of Greenland.
This work is performed in the framework of the Netherlands Earth System
Science Centre (NESSC).
