avn数据求教

之前转wrf的时候都下载GFS数据，偶然看到avn数据也能用来转wrf，不知道这个avn是什么意思？是GFS数据的一种还是其他模式得到的结果？

On 24 April 2002 the NCEP AVN model was renamed to the GFS (Global Forecast System).   The name AVN is still used on operational NWS FTP servers to describe GFS model data sets.  A project has begun within NCEP Central Operations (NCO) to rename the AVN labaled products on these servers to GFS.  This project will be accomplished in two stages.  By 15 June 2004 the FTP servers will be populated with symbolically linked data with the GFS name which point to the currently named AVN data sets.  The scond phase of this project will remove all AVN named products leaving only the GFS named products behind.  This second phase will be accomplished no earlier than (NET) 1 January 2005.  The exact date of this change will be published as soon as it is known.
